Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH) is still without a cure to this day and
newly reported cases are on the rise. PPH is a rare lung disorder in which the
blood pressure in the pulmonary artery rises far above normal levels for no
apparent reason causing heart valve disease and death. Although little is know
about PPH, doctors have connected PPH to the use of diet drugs such as Fen-Phen,
Redux, and Pondimin.
PPH settlements can provide restitution to individuals who have been injured
by the once-popular diet drug, Fen Phen. Fen Phen debuted on America's drug
market in the 1970s and gained popularity for the short and long term management
of weight and obesity. Fen Phen was pulled off the shelves in September 1997
after clinical study reports indicated serious cardiovascular risks associated
with Fen Phen use.
Following the recall, numerous PPH lawsuits were filed on behalf of Americans
who had suffered from PPH as a result of taking Fen Phen. Through years of intense
litigation, a PPH settlement trust was established at $13 billion as a means
to compensate the many people who suffered from PPH from using a prescription
diet drug. It is estimated though that there are more than 12,000 more cases
of serious side effects that have not yet resulted in PPH settlements. Some
patients do not develop the signs and symptoms of PPH for years after terminating
the use of this defective drug. PPH settlements may still be available for those
persons who have recently been diagnosed with a PPH.
If you have been diagnosed with PPH and have been using or used diet pills
such as Fen-Phen, Redux and Pondimin, you may be eligible for a PPH settlement
or lawsuit. Claims can be brought individually against the manufacturers, seeking
compensation for damages including medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages,
lost quality of life, and punitive damages.
